CoverScout is an invite-only product experiment for adult musicians. This notice explains what the beta stores, why it stores it, and what remains under your control.
What we collect
Your email, musician profile, instruments, preferences, calibration reactions, recommendation decisions, practice outcomes, product events, and delivery settings. Song and provider observations live in a shared catalog; your personal reactions do not.
Performance samples
Audio upload is optional. The current analyzer processes the file transiently in an automatically deleted temporary workspace to estimate traits such as tempo, key, energy, brightness, dynamics, and rhythmic density. The raw file is not written to application storage. Only the compact analysis and original filename are retained. Upload only material you have the right to use.
How the data is used
Personal information is used to operate your account, rank songs for you, improve your own musician model, deliver briefs, diagnose beta failures, and evaluate whether recommendations lead to practice. First-party events remain in the CoverScout database. External analytics is disabled by default and requires a deliberate operator configuration.
AI and inference
CoverScout may infer broad traits from your description or optional performance sample. Inferences can be incomplete or wrong. They remain editable and are not presented as a definitive assessment of your ability or identity. Your feedback and hard constraints outrank concierge recommendations.
When the deployment operator enables external LLM explanations, CoverScout sends the editable musician profile and metadata, scores, and provenance for only the songs already selected for a brief to the configured model provider so it can draft the explanation shown in the app. Raw performance audio is not sent for this purpose. The model does not choose or rerank songs, and CoverScout falls back to a visibly labeled deterministic explanation when the feature is disabled or unavailable.
Platform data
Every source is controlled independently for collection, search, display, and scoring. Provider evidence keeps attribution and freshness information. A provider can be disabled without deleting your musician profile. The operator applies source-specific retention rules and may restrict a source to research use.
Your controls
You can edit your profile, remove audio-derived traits, download an account export, and permanently delete your account from Settings. Deletion removes your workspace, profile, feedback, briefs, events, and retained audio analysis. It does not delete the non-personal shared song catalog.
Beta limitations
This is evaluation software, not a guarantee of views, earnings, musical progress, data availability, or uninterrupted service. Recommendations may be sparse when no song satisfies all hard constraints. We prefer fewer honest recommendations over silently violating a preference.
Contact and changes
The operator email is configured by the deployment owner. Material notice changes receive a new version and may require renewed acceptance. Do not use the beta if you disagree with the current notice.
We are building a tool that reduces scrolling and increases playing. Your data should serve that outcome—not become another attention product.
